To: Balesin Members and Friends

This update will be all about AEGLE’s newest gem, the Aegle Wellness Center at Balesin Island Club.

I arrived from Europe a week ago and with the exception of one day, which I spent in Baguio reviewing our Alphaland Baguio Mountain Lodges project, I have been in Balesin. As is my usual practice, after clearing Immigration and Customs in Manila, I proceeded directly to Balesin as I was eager to view Rico Sison’s latest masterpiece at Aegle Wellness Center at Balesin – and what a masterpiece it is!

Comprising more than 2,000 square meters over four levels served by an elevator, no wellness center in the world can compare with this one. I recently read an article in the Elite Travel magazine that was raving about a wellness center in Bermuda which they claim to be the best in the world, but the pictures and description were nowhere near Aegle’s Balesin Wellness Center which is 2-1/2 times the size of the one in Bermuda and with the most up-to-date diagnostic wellness equipment and Thalassotherapy.

Named after the goddess of radiant good health in Greek mythology, Aegle Wellness Center is appropriately situated adjacent to the Mykonos Village in Balesin. It focuses on Thalassotherapy (thalasso in Greek means the sea), which is in fact very highly regarded and is found in many countries in Europe.

Since I have been in Balesin, every morning I have a Thalassotherapy treatment, and have thoroughly enjoyed the sea water Thalasso pools and morning sun in several of the 9 pools at the Aegle facility. In fact, in the last six days since I got here, I have lost 4-1/2 pounds and have never felt better in the last 20 years. No exaggeration!

Dr. Ben Valdecañas, our Medical Director, who insists on a full diagnostic analysis in order to tailor-fit a wellness program for each client, has assembled a top-notch group of wellness doctors, nutritionists, pharmacists, nurses and med techs to complement the most modern equipment and facilities available worldwide. Under Dr. Ben’s leadership, a series of 1-day, 3-day, 4-day and 1-week wellness programs have been developed. I myself have not tried all of them, but many who have are most impressed not only with our facilities both at The City Club and Balesin but also Aegle’s unique approach to wellness.

Lest I lapse into territory in which I am not exactly an expert, I will let Dr. Ben speak to describe this in his note attached herewith.

In order to properly introduce Aegle and its wellness programs to our members and guests, I am pleased to announce that during this coming month of May, in fact, starting at the weekend of April 30, we will offer an “Introduction to Wellness” program free of charge to members and at an out-of-pocket cost of only Php10,000 for non-members.

This will consist of a 2-hour program after a 10-hour fast and will be scheduled for each client (members and non-members alike) starting at 7:00 am, followed by another half-hour discussion the next day with the wellness physician to discuss the results of the diagnostic tests and what nutrition and exercise programs would best suit each individual.

Since we can handle only a maximum of 15 clients each day, appointments must be made a week in advance of each “Introduction to Wellness” program. Appointments will be on a first-come, first-served basis. As the first day will take only 2 hours followed by a half-hour session the next day, those who come to Balesin to enjoy the amenities and beauty of the island will still have plenty of time do so during their stay.

I now turn you over to Dr. Ben to describe the specifics of the Introductory Program. And as a parting word, let me say that having had a first-hand personal experience this past week of what the Aegle Wellness Center in Balesin offers, I strongly recommend that you don’t miss this opportunity.
