To: Balesin Members and Friends

On April 14 this year, Balesin Island Club will be five years old. In recent years, due to the fact that Balesin is an island surrounded by the ocean, the maintenance costs have been increasing rather dramatically. We have already had to replace corroding metal, rotting woodwork, and many other facilities with concrete, stainless steel, and other materials which are impervious to saltwater damage.

As I write this, there are in fact almost 400 maintenance and landscaping personnel on the island to ensure that all facilities are properly maintained and regularly repainted to meet the high standards that our members have come to expect of Balesin Island Club.

Recently, we did a survey of several five-star hotels in Boracay and Bohol, as well as El Nido and Amanpulo, and we have found that our cost per villa night at Php15,000 per night is about half of the prevailing rates at other resorts that are much less attractive than Balesin.

Therefore, with effect as of April 1, 2016, the charge for villa nights for guests will be increased from Php15,000 to Php20,000. The cost per villa night for members will remain unchanged, as will the monthly dues.
